About UserTesting
UserTesting is a platform that pays everyday people to test websites, apps, and prototypes. Companies like Adobe, Facebook, and Walmart use UserTesting to get feedback on their digital products. You simply record your screen and voice as you complete a set of tasks, and you get paid for your time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does UserTesting pay?
The standard pay is $10 for every 20-minute unmoderated test you complete. Shorter tests may pay less, while 'Live Conversation' tests (where you talk to a researcher in real-time) pay significantly more, usually between $30 and $60 per hour.
Do I need a webcam?
For standard tests, you usually only need a microphone to record your voice while your screen is recorded. However, for Live Conversation tests, a webcam is required so you can speak face-to-face with the customer.
How soon do I get paid?
UserTesting pays exclusively via PayPal. Payments are sent exactly 7 days after you successfully complete a test.
Why am I not getting many tests?
Test availability depends on your demographic profile (age, location, job title, etc.). If companies aren't looking for someone with your specific profile right now, you may see fewer tests. Keeping your dashboard open usually helps you catch tests as soon as they appear.
Is this a full-time job?
No. UserTesting is designed as a side hustle to earn extra pocket money. The volume of work is inconsistent, so it should not be relied upon as a primary source of income.
